PTSD and cPTSD

I know I usually post about the latest and greatest in music and ELA education, but I came across this article, and it was too important not to share.

I was diagnosed with complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (cPTSD) many years ago, and it’s often misunderstood. People talk about triggers, but they don’t understand that these are more than just reminders of sad events. It is a scientific fact, that triggers for someone with cPTSD or PTSD affect the brain differently. And, it’s not just military personnel that suffer from cPTSD or PTSD.

Please seek counseling if you have had multiple traumas in your life. cPTSD and PTSD are not curable, but they can be treated professionally.

I’m sharing this article here because it’s well worth the read, and it’s inaccessible if you don’t have institutional access or can’t pay for it. If there are some parts of the article you don’t understand, please comment, and I’ll do my best to explain.
