As a para-educator, I’m constantly introduced to new teaching methods. One such method involves the software, Blooket.

I won’t give an incredibly detailed explanation of the software as Luke Edwards does quite a qualitative job in his tech learning article. I will add that the software works for multiple subjects including math, ELA, science, and social studies!
What I do want to discuss is one of the research articles I found about the software. Wongsaming et al. (2023) examined the effect of Blooket on 70 Thai 7th grade students. They wanted to know whether cooperative learning improved math scores. Cooperative learning is equivalent to blended learning in that students receive instruction from their instructor and then use technology to improve learning and demonstrate proficiency. In this study, half of the students participated in blended learning using Blooket while the other half only received instruction from their teacher. The students completed a math assessment before and after the study. Wongsaming et al. (2023) found that students who participated in Blooket performed significantly higher on the post-math exam than those who did not.
As this is a newer company, more research is needed to prove its efficacy. I hope to learn more about it as I continue in my position as a para-educator.
